Hōgyoku was both a painter and designer of woodblock prints. He included flowers or birds in more than ten of these prints and twelve examples are shown below. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Hōgyoku drew his picture subjects in a true-to-life way but he often simplified their shapes using smooth curves.
